ジュエリーに関する思い出やエピソードがあれば、教えてください。
Nina: 小さな頃から、ジュエリーが大好きでした。家族が受け継いできた物を身につけ、その美しさに夢中になっていました。学業を終えた後には、コペンハーゲンのジョージ ジェンセンに勤めていたこともあります。ジュエリーは、まさに“身につけられる記憶”ですよね。特に愛する人からの贈り物としてもらったジュエリーは、とても大切な宝物です。大切な人からのジュエリーは決して手放せません。それはとてもデリケートで、価値あるギフトなのです。
Is there any story or memory of jewelry? I would be happy to hear about it if any.
Nina: I always loved jewelry as a little girl, trying and dreaming of my family’s heritage. I even worked for Georg Jensen in Copenhagen after my studies. Jewelry is wearable memories, especially when you receive them as gifts from the ones you love. I will never exchange a piece of jewelry from a loved one; it’s a vulnerable and precious gift.

Nina: 機能と美学を融合させることです。
Please tell me what the main focus of your creation is.
Nina: The main focus of my creation is to combine
functionality with aesthetics.
作品を通じて、どのようにして他人とのコミュニケーションを図ろうとしていますか？また、人々の生活にどのような影響を与えたいと考えていますか。
Nina: 目標の一つには、私の口吹きガラスデザインの繊細さと優しさを理解してもらい、価値を認めてもらうことです。ガラスを形成するときには液体になるという事実と、ガラスの歴史を、皆さんに理解してもらいたいと思っています。
また、別の観点としては、個々人の成長や変化への尊重が重要です。人々を無理に変えるのではなく、そのままであることを尊重し、支えることを大切にしています。
それこそが、私がガラスを扱う際の取り組み方です。注意深く、優しく動かしながら、口吹きガラスの自然な線に従って創作していくのです。
In what ways do you aim to communicate with others through your work, and how do you hope to impact people’s lives?
Nina: One of my goals is always to make people understand and appreciate the delicate and soft edges of my mouth-blown glass designs.
I want people to understand the history of glass, the fact that it’s liquid when I shape it. Another interpretation is the movement and respect for individuals — not forcing people but letting them be and supporting them.
That’s how I try to work with glass, with care and gentle moves, following the natural lines in mouth-blown glass.

ニーナ・ノーガードは、コペンハーゲンを拠点にガラスを使った作品を制作しているアーティスト、デザイナー。パリ、ベニス、サンフランシスコで吹硝子と彫刻を学んだ後、2010年にスウェーデンのKosta School of Glassを卒業し、世界各地でコミッションワークや個人的なプロジェクトを行っています。
Nina Nørgaard is a Copenhagen based artist and designer working with glass. After studying mouth blown and sculpted glass with masters in Paris, Venice and San Francisco, she graduated from Kosta School of Glass in Sweden in 2010. Nina Nørgaard works with commissioned and personal projects world wide.
